To do the boring version of an introduction...
Hello. I am Rie. I'm an environmental educator currently trapped as a chemist by the viscous cycle of the bills. I did just start graduate school part time for conservation biology, with the goal of focusing on urban community based conservation. If you have questions about animals, nature, or dinosaurs, shoot them my way.
I live with my partner and our cat Thunder. He was a stray that we fully intended to foster and find a home for. We did. We just hadn't expected the home we found to be ours. Thunder is a firm believer of no cell phones after lights out and will lay on them if we try to read in the dark.
I write LGBTQIA sci-fi and fantasy (I once vocally introduced the novel I am currently working on as a "lesbian knight fantasy" and everyone assumed I meant "lesbian night fantasy" and wanted to know if it was hot, steamy, and what kinks were involved. I now state sci-fi before fantasy to mitigate this miscommunication). I completed NaNoWriMo in both 2014 and 2015, which is the foundation for my first book. I tend to write more long form works, but the occasional short piece that I turn out, I will probably post for feedback. If I get to the point where I need beta readers on any of my books, I may reach out to people here.

Welcome and hello its lovely to see someone other then charlie and his ugly face on the forum I look forward to see your work on the forum also I am in a similar spot as you that makes me nervous to share out one of my stories with a wider audience. That irritating notion that if your character does not fit a gender or sexual norm means you are writing porn is irritating. Luckily you'll find none of that here, I can't speak for charlie when he is sober or not Massive credit were its due for being able to do the NaNoWriMo month not once but twice -_- Again welcome and greetings

Hey hey to you too. There's a camp NaNo in July. You set your own writing goal for it. It might not be a bad idea to encourage people to do it. Writing as a group makes it more fun. For people in the same areas, we could have write ins together, host word wars/sprints, and help each other through writer's block. I cannot emphasize enough how important the NaNo program has been in my writing career. It really reminded me that its actually feasible for me to publish. At this point, after grad school though.
