So after taking some of Justin and Charlie's suggestions, I have separated mine and Rohan's story for the time being and will be interweaving them at a later date. I think this is going to help with the flow of both our stories without making them seem super disjointed (as Charlie warned).
Another thing Rohan and I wanted to incorporate are "inspirational" quotes or just quotes that describe more of how we are feeling at the time. I'm not sure if it would be better to have these at the beginning of the section which applies to them, or to somehow weave them into the memoir/narrative. Either way, I just want them to be included. I think it's beneficial toward helping others understand more of where both he and I are coming from. Because one of the hardest things for me writing this is trying to explain what I've largely suffered throughout my whole life. Not to say it's all bad and that's another goal I have for this work -- to eventually get to the root of how to overcome these things. To let others know they aren't alone, no matter what they endure. And I want to inspire others to know they can overcome whatever they put their mind to, just as Rohan and I are trying to do.
So that's something to keep in mind. This isn't going to be a completely depressing memoir-driven book. I want to incorporate the positive as well and I am trying to lay the base for the reader to see just how bad it has been, just how much I have slipped into the darkness, so they can fully appreciate when I started to see the light. (if that makes any sense).
Thank you so much for reading this, I really appreciate it. Again, don't hold back. I want your honest thoughts and opinions and criticism. I've attached my story separate from Rohan's. A lot of this is repeat of what you may have already read but I wanted to show how the quotes are incorporated (and if you think that's working or not).
